The product is no longer “a chat box.” It is chat plus deep research, file tools, memory, custom GPTs, Advanced Voice, image and video toys, Codex, and agent-style modes.
The ladder is Free, Go (~$8), Plus ($20), Pro ($100 or $200), Business (~$20–$25 per seat), and Enterprise (custom). Free is ad-supported in the US and throttled. Go buys volume. Plus buys the real feature set. Pro buys headroom.
I treat ChatGPT as infrastructure for thinking and drafting, not as a production runtime. It drafts well. It researches well enough when you check sources. It still invents citations when you get lazy.
